Making Genuine Followers & Doing Good

Here's A Little About Life Point

LIFE POINT

Churches have started in all sorts of places:  Living Rooms, High School Auditoriums, Movie Theaters.  Our currently meeting space, a Mexican Resturant, may be a little unusual, but the message of God's grace is timeless and unchanging.

Life Point . . .
  • Is not about "being a perfect person."  In life "No one bats 1.000!"  We all make mistakes - by our own admisison - we all have lived selfishly, pushing God to the margins or out of our lives completely.  We certainly don't need other imperfect people pointing out our failures or short-comings.  But we could all use a few more genuine and authentic friends.  Jesus said, "If two people are walking down a road and one falls in a ditch the other can help him out."  That's the essence of Life Point - walking alongside one another.
  • We don't "part our hair funny" or have a strange dress code - but we have been changed for the better by following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe the Bible is a reliable, sufficient guide for life.
  • We believe everyone is important.
  • We believe "Church" should be exciting, encouraging, challenging and relevant - a place that "just feels right" - filled with people you can't wait to get back together with.  We focus on real life issues, the music is contemporary, and the people:  genuine and authentic.
  • We do currently meet in a Mexican Resturant - which is a little unusual - but we want you to know:  "There's a seat for you and 'chips and salsa' too!"
Doug & Dianne Carter

Life Point Christian Church was launched in September of 2008, one of Hampton Roads newest ministries.  Lead Pastor Doug Carter and his wife Dianne, though, are no strangers to the area:  Doug is a 1980 graduate of Kellam High School in Virginia Beach and Dianne is a "Crabber" a 1981 graduate of Hampton High School.

Doug & Dianne met in 1981 while attending Mid-Atlantic Christian University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and this year (2010) they are celebrating twenty-seven years of marriage and ministry together.  Having served in Kentucky, Indiana and Arizona, Doug and Dianne returned "home" to Virginia in 2006.

"Dianne and I are very excited about being a part of a brand new local ministry focused on developing devoted, genuine followers of Jesus Christ and committed to 'Doing Some Good In The Neighborhood.'  We'd like to invite you to join us, 'just as you are' - to learn about and partner with others in sharing and living out the incredible gift of 'life' God has for us all."
